About Jose

An experienced leader with vision and integrity.

As Mayor, Jose delivered real results for Cudahy. He spearheaded the public-private partnerships that brought Sprouts Farmers Market and Starbucks to the city, helped secure grants and funding for senior housing and public parks, and led the expansion of Cudahy Park and Clara Park. Under his leadership the city planted trees throughout the community as part of a broader push to make Cudahy greener and more livable, backed by his advocacy for climate action and environmental responsibility at the regional level. He also championed a five-year strategic plan to modernize the Atlantic Corridor, attract new businesses and employers, and expand affordable housing so longtime residents can build generational wealth right here in Cudahy.

Jose Gonzalez has spent his career in service — today as Chief Technology Officer for the Los Angeles County Office of Education, and previously as Senior Director of Information Technology for the Los Angeles Unified School District, where he worked every day to support students and families across the region. That same drive to serve led him into elected office in the city he calls home: elected to the Cudahy City Council in 2018, Jose went on to serve as Mayor, earning a reputation as a hands-on problem-solver who shows up, listens, and follows through.

Jose's leadership has earned the trust and support of members of Congress, county supervisors, state legislators, fellow mayors and council members across southeast Los Angeles County, and the labor organizations that build our communities. He's running for City Council again because Cudahy's work isn't finished — and he isn't either.

"Public service isn't about a title. It's about showing up for your neighbors and getting real results."
